Snapshot of Asia

After a trip of almost 6000 miles, venturing to the far east is a heck of a journey I can tell you.
Gathering stock photos for various projects along the way was exciting but very tiring. Fly to Beijing and take in the Great Wall at Juyongguan before leaving for Shanghai and the world heritage site of Souzho.

Souzho world heritage site, Pedicab and Humble Administrators Garden

Leaving China for Okinawa in Japan to visit the underground Naval headquarters and Peace Park was immensely interesting as I have a keen interest in WWII.
From Japan to Taipei where numerous temples and Chang Kai Chek's memorial park were highlights.

Chang Kai Chek's Memorial Gardens and Prayer reading at one of the many city temples

From here we hopped over to my favourite stop - Hong Kong over several days is a must.

Victoria Peak, Hong Kong Island by day and night

Vietnam was a total culture shock and I'm not sure I was ready for the sights that greeted me. Singapore was a short stay but we still got to Raffles Hotel and yes Karen (my wife) did indulge in a Singapore Sling - but only one.

A quiet day in Vietnamese traffic, chop shop Saigon, Ponagar Temple, silk embroidery and finished work

Last stop was Bangkok and the Golden Palace which was awe inspiring. I'm glad I did it but I'm pretty well cleaned out for now. Nest trip will be into next year I think, when I've paid the bill for this one!

Liverpool Waterfront

The image above is world famous, but the waterfront is changing and new structures are springing up all around the group of buildings collectively known as The Three Graces. These are (left to right) - The Royal Liver Building, Cunard Building and the Port of Liverpool Building.
I was showing my good friend Podge Kelly around my local area on a recent visit, and decided to take him on a trip on the equally famous Mersey Ferry. Weather was windy, squally and very wet but like brave souls we ventured out across the water. I hadn't taken any photos recently and thought it was about time I updated my archive.
The original photo is shown below before retouching and converting to monochrome.

Hilbre Island Expedition

Tuesday 14th July saw an intrepid band of explorers venture out accross the Wirral sands from West Kirby to the nearby Island of Hilbre on the Wirral. Having one of the world's greatest beauty spots on your doorstep is a great bonus, but useless when you ignore it because you can visit it at any time....

Tom Lee, Podge Kelly, Mike McNamee and John Ashton ventured out to re-aquaint themselves with the natural beauty of the local nature reserve havng not given it due consideration for some time.

The images contained in this post is a small selection of our photography and will be added to in future posts...enjoy.

The Boatyard

Yes, we're under way....
This is the latest offering from Tom - it was taken in Malta a few weeks ago and has been treated with many layers of Photoshop and specialist plug-ins.

"I've recently rediscovered my love of the Black and White images and added this sample to my collection. Malta is a beautiful island and needs to be visited before the EU get there hands into it..."
